Gina Porter is a Professor in the Department of Anthropology, Durham University, UK. Her research interests are principally focused around the mobilities of vulnerable groups in Africa. This includes a series of studies of walking practices conducted with children, women, older people and – most recently – young men, over the last two decades. Her research is typically conducted in close partnership with a diversity of local stakeholders, and incorporates a peer research method with training of community members as co-investigators. She has published widely in these fields.
